Siren: Blood Curse…AKA…Sony Thinks Gamers Are Utter Morons.

Now, I’m as fond of Japanese horror as the next guy. They’ve done some downright fantastic stuff, and they’ve also done some downright incomprehensible stuff. And Siren, a game all the way back on the PS2, was a pretty representative example of Japanese horror. With lots of ghosts, some mystery, and plenty of spooky moments, as well as the little extra innovative twist that was the so-called “Sight-Jack system”, a system by which you could temporarily see through the eyes of the ghosties and ghoulies and monsters that were chasing you.

But now, it’s gone the route of so many other Japanese horror titles, and is now the victim of an American remake. Available starting this summer in bite-sized chunks of horror, “Siren: Blood Curse” will feature an American television crew stuck in the cursed village of Hanuda and twelve total episodes. Cost per episode isn’t yet solid but has been suggested at around six bucks a crack. Which means, you’ll basically be paying for a remake of a PS2 game in twelve pieces for a grand total of seventy two bucks.

So at this point, Sony basically looks at its customers like big talking wallets. Of course, they were already well down that road when they were charging like seven hundred bucks for a system that was basically a glorified Blu-ray player with one decent game that wasn’t a port or non-exclusive.

Hopefully, things will get better for PS3 fans soon.
