Soul Calibur IV: Exclusive Characters
Most Soul Calibur fans are already eagerly awaiting the newest installment of the series which is due to release at the end of this month, July 29. For Soul Calibur IV, each console features a unique bonus character from the Star Wars universe. Yoda will be gracing us with his presence on the 360 and Dark Vader storms the PS3. Can’t decide which character you prefer? That may be the point. It’s a hard choice for die hard Star Wars fans between two of the IP’s most legendary characters.
Soul Calibur II had a similar split between consoles, but made sensible character choices based on each consoles’ target audience. Link(Zelda) can be found on the Gamecube version of the game for the Nintendo fan-boys, Heihachi resides on the PS2 for the Tekken(a Playstation exclusive series) fans, while Spawn is found on the 360 for the mature crowd.
The “Secret Apprentice” from Star Wars: Force Unleashed can be found in both skus of Soul Calibur IV, but if I chose Yoda then I can’t have Dark Vader as well? Why is this iteration of the Soul Caliber franchise splitting the Star Wars fans in two ways? Could they be hoping enough Star Wars fans will break down and buy both versions?
Well, you win Namco. I’m getting both versions, but I’m not happy about it.
