The EVE Online conundrum
No. No no no no. We are not doing this.
I don’t have time for an MMO right now. I am an Adult. I have Responsibilities.
But here I am with the dubious gift from a friend of mine who’s stationed in Afghanistan. While he’s filling sandbags, he’s requested I play his character in EVE Online. (He also requested a carton of Camel filters and all the Naruto episodes burned to DVD, but those are just one-time things.)
I have to admit the game has intrigued me occasionally, just for the sheer griefing potential. The whole idea of pour through space in disposable ships to wreck people who take the game seriously has drawn my eye towards the GoonSwarm occasionally. I’ve even got the SomethingAwful forum account already.
And they put out some great propaganda.
Huh. That looks kind of fun, actually…
Wait, no.
Anyway, my friend doesn’t want much from me. I just have to log in and keep his character training skills, and not leave it worse than he started.
I’m not going to take his ships and run them in some massed suicide attack.
Really.
Not going to.

Ah ha! I just knew that, between you and Steve, somebody had to have stairs in their house. GBS is like crack to me, and I just had a thread go gold. Feelin’ good.

Bottom scum of the internet if you ask me.
rvd, I think that’s a pretty bold judgment to make about 115,648 people at once. And totally irrelevant to the post, but that’s a different matter.
