The Messengers Ring Twice
Seemingly out of nowhere comes the news that there’s a sequel to Sam Raimi’s The Messengers, slated to go straight to DVD on the order of somewhat soon.

You know… I’m not terribly sure how I feel about this bit of news. On the one hand, Sam Raimi is generally in a position to do pretty well in the horror genre. He’s the guy behind the legendary Evil Dead series, after all. And it’s not like The Messengers was all that bad a movie. There’s at least a fair chance a sequel might be equally tolerable, or just as good for different reasons.
And yet… I can’t help but look at the slate of movies coming out from Ghost House, Sam Raimi’s production company, and think, great… all sequels. And almost all, save for Grudge 3, going direct to video.

But then, what if this is just a burst of exploitation of recent hit properties to raise cash for some great monster Sam Raimi project?
What if this is the impetus that starts off…
…dare I dream it?…
EVIL DEAD FOUR.
Wow. I got chills just saying it. And if that’s the case, then sign me up, Sam Raimi - I’ll sit through some cheesy DTV if it means getting my hot little hands on a golden ticket to a movie we’ve all been waiting for since roughly 1993.
I can only hope that this is the case.
And until then, you can go and enjoy other Sam Raimi trivia on Kwanzoo, and you won’t have to wait fifteen years for it to come out, either.
