The Worst Trailer out of E3

Since we’ve gone over the best trailers coming out of E3, why not take a look at the worst?

Without a doubt, that honor goes to the “Duke Nukem Trilogy,” whose total content consists of four logos, a static character portrait, a grab bag of public domain photos, sound clips from the 1996 game and a butt-rock soundtrack.

It lasts for four minutes.

My favorite part is how about halfway through, the logo starts doing this sad little wiggle, apparently to indicate it is being fired upon by bullets from the character portraits that are mostly out of frame. Then they must have needed more material, because they reuse the animation three-quarters of the way through. Then it goes to a slow zoom of the character portrait’s belt buckle, except it only leaves you with the impression that the video’s director really wants you to pay attention to Duke’s penis.

This might be some kind of ploy to make the video go viral. If so, it’s working. Still, it might have been a good idea to include some kind of information about when the games are coming out or what platforms they’ll be appearing on. (This is in fact not a trailer for Duke Nukem Forever, the game that has famously been in development for more than twice as long as it took to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.)
