You know, there are times when I wonder if the whole theatre mess can get any weirder, but then along comes a bit of news that proves that there’s always a way to tear the bottom off the barrel and start digging until you smell feet.  Apparently, just a couple days ago, the AMC Loews Center Park 8 theatre found it the possible victim of that modern day bugaboo, terrorism.

During a Sunday night screening at the Beltsville, Maryland AMC theatre, someone apparently released a large quantity of mace into the theatre, hospitalizing at least three, including a twelve year old boy. 

Yeah. Mace.  Like what you get sprayed with.  And someone just busted out a huge quantity of this stuff into a theatre.  This is nothing but sick, in all honesty, and has probably hurt the theatres even worse, because chances are, someone’s now looking at the theatre a little askance now.  It’s a bad sign when someone starts looking at the theatre and thinks, wow…I could get GASSED in there.  Maybe I should stay home, where the only gases released into the air are my own.
