There’s a Second Punisher? Wow. Better Yet, Why?
Apparently, at some point, there was going to be a sequel to The Punisher. Now, I’m not sure why—the first one was so much steaming cow flop—but I guess enough people liked it to make it worthwhile. Interestingly enough, it was slated to have a woman director, which is extremely rare. Women directing action movies have only been seen a handful of times in the last fifteen years.
It’s called Punisher: Warzone, and it looked to be more of the same cordite-laced shoot-em-up action that we’ve come to know and tolerate over the years.
But it looks like sheer karma isn’t going to let this sucker fly very far. Thomas Jane, the original Punisher, wants out because he can’t stand Kurt Sutter’s original script. In response, Kurt Sutter pulled out also because he doesn’t see much of his original script left in the ACTUAL script. Weird, no—Jane pulled out because he hated Sutter’s script, and Sutter pulled out because he hated the rewritten script!
So the Punisher saga has a lot of laughs in it—they’re all sad laughs—but they’re still laughs. And if you want to get some action back in things, head over to Kwanzoo’s action movie trivia section.
