Thoughts on interviewing the New England Patriots during a news conference at San Jose State University
Today the New England Patriots began practicing for their Sunday Night Football game against the San Diego Chargers at my school, San Jose State University.
Since I am a writer for our school newspaper, the Spartan Daily, I got a press pass to partake in the Patriots weekly news conference held prior to upcoming games.
The Patriots play three games in California this year. Last week they played at San Francisco and decided to stay in the San Francisco Bay Area over the course of the week instead of flying home.
Coach Bill Bilichick, surprisingly, actually had a sense of humor. He did, however, not wish to talk about Tom Brady’s recent surgery whatsoever. He insisted that the conference was to be solely about the upcoming game against the Chargers.
Randy Moss was nowhere to be found, too bad, I wanted to ask him how it felt to be back in the Bay Area!
Linebacker Tedy Bruschi was probably the most friendly player of all that spoke. Bruschi is really good friends with San Jose State University head coach Dick Tomey. Tomey coached Bruschi in college at Arizona and the two seemed extremely happy to be able to spend time together.
I have a story coming out about the situation in tomorrow’s edition of our newspaper that can be found at thespartandaily.com
