Movie Trivia: Buffy Star Goes For the Possession
So, let’s face facts for a second… Sarah Michelle Gellar’s career, post-Buffy the Vampire Slayer, hasn’t been what you’d call fantastic. Scooby-Doo is considered a war crime in certain countries–not without good reason–and it could be said that her attempt to action-hero her way through The Grudge pretty much destroyed everything that was scary about Ju-On and thus should have been scary about The Grudge.
After The Grudge fell through the floor, there wasn’t a whole lot heard from Sarah Michelle Gellar–she had some movies but most went direct to video, and of course there’s her standing gig on Robot Chicken, but now she’s got a new movie coming out that just might put some punch in her career.
It’s called Possession, and bad news, folks…there’s some word that it’s 1. a remake of a Japanese film (just like The Grudge) and 2. going direct to video. Naturally, at this point, any of these can be false so take them with a monster grain of salt. But from the sounds of the plot, it might well have been Japanese at one point–take a look:
The film stars Gellar as a woman whose husband and brother-in-law are involved in a horrific car accident. The husband dies, but the brother-in-law eventually wakes up, at which time he insists that he’s her husband.
Yes, that’s lovely, isn’t it? Gellar comes in, finds her brother-in-law convinced he’s her husband, and we go on a merry romp with “Hi Honey, I’m Dead!”. Sounds like a cheesy fifties sitcom gone horribly, horribly awry, doesn’t it?
And until we get to see this probable monstrousity in action, try the Buffy the Vampire Slayer trivia on Kwanzoo. It can’t possibly be any worse!
