T.V. Trivia: Fox Announces 3 New Pilots with Familiar Faces
The time has come, the networks said, to talk of many things - of shoes, and ships, and sealing wax, and what’s going to be on your T.V.s next fall.
As much as I’d like to express this entire article in poetry, I think I’ll switch to prose. Just days away from spilling its full lineup for next season, Fox has let slip a few crucial details of pilots that will be picked up for next summer. ABC, too, has released a few official go-aheads.
Boston Legal fans can relax. The fifth season has been approved, and we can all continue to watch James Spader increase in puffiness until he actually surpasses William Shatner and/or his face explodes like a grilled sausage. As for new pilots and renewals of recent shows, nobody’s quite sure what will be decided. Stay tuned.
Fox has some big plans for next season. A J.J. Abrams pilot - yes, the man behind Lost, Alias, and Cloverfield - will soon grace our screens. Called “Fringe,” it’s about the FBI (surprise!) and apparently deals with paranormal activity. Hmmm… “Sit Down, Shut Up,” from Arrested Development’s Mitch Hurwitz, plans to capitalize on the increasing popularity of animation for grown-ups, while a Jason Bateman-directed pilot, “The Inn,” stars Jerry O’Connell - widely accepted as the poor man’s Bateman. Arrested Development writer Abraham Higginbotham (yes, really) is the creator.
Variety hosts the full story, including news on where the CW is going next. Straight to hell in a handbasket, possibly.
(I miss you, dubba-dubba-dubba-dubba-double-you-bee!)
