T.V. Trivia: Renée Zellweger to Produce “Living Proof” for Lifetime
While you may not agree with Family Guy’s accusatory tagline of “Lifetime: Television for Idiots,” most of us can agree that Lifetime movies don’t have the best reputation. They were responsible for Cyber Seduction: His Secret Life, after all. But respected actress Renée Zellweger, not content with slumming it in the ultra-mediocre comedy Leatherheads, has decided to executive produce a Lifetime original movie.
Zellweger will produce Living Proof, based on the true story of Dr. Denny Slamon. Harry Connick, Jr. is playing Slamon, a doctor and developer of Herceptin 2, a type of breast cancer medication. According to E!, the actress has a personal connection to the Living Proof story. Nanci Ryder, Zellweger’s publicist and friend, was one of Dr. Slaman’s patients.
There had better be a recurring joke about how nobody can comprehend/pronounce his last name, because I’m sure having a heck of a time. My brain keeps parsing it as “slalom.”
In any case, I suppose Lifetime hopes that Zellweger’s star power will draw in the viewership. It doubt it will work, but this promises to be a lovely train wreck anyway.
