October brings with it the sequel to the popular Fable game, Fable 2. Fable and its sequel are developed by Lionhead Studios, developer of the Black & White series of games. It’s been four years since the release of the original Fable on the Xbox and the new features sound very promising. The original was a marvel of game design where every player shaped their own game world. Fable 2 will feature the good vs evil game choices with even more unique features added on top.

One of the most anticipated new features is the co-op mode. Fable 2 features both online and offline co-op. During the game, orbs will appear indicating where another person is that can be brought into the player’s world. This allows players to drop in and out of co-op play very easily. The offline split-screen co-op is very exciting in a time when a lot of games are cutting out split-screen for online multiplayer only.

In Fable 2, the player will have a dog companion throughout the entire game. This dog will be the player’s best friend. It fights with the player in battle and alerts the player to danger. It’s going to be a little weird getting used to listening to the dog instead of having a mini map, but the fact that the dog evolves with the character makes up for it.

The game is looking to sell near as many copies as the original and I have no doubt I am going to buy it.
