You know, it takes a lot of brass to make a game where you know, going in, that your character is going to be tortured horribly and killed by those eternal villians, the Nazis. Lots of brass. Huge, huge, big brass ones.

And for Replay Studios, it’s clear that they clang when they walk, because they went right ahead and did just that. Their upcoming title, Velvet Assassin, is based on the absolutely true-life adventures of World War II-era British secret agent Violette Szabo, who was captured, tortured and executed for espionage at the ripe old age of twenty-three.

The pictures, found on Destructoid, give us an excellent look at this game, which looks to combine stealth and action in fairly equal doses. This is, of course, something of a rarity in modern gaming–usually they go one way or the other.

Due out in fall 2008, following the fictionalized Violette around on her daring escapades should be some fun indeed. And until then, there’s Xbox 360 trivia for us to enjoy.
