Video game news, small and large

- The Spore Creature Creator demo was officially released today. The full game, if you can call it that, still comes out tomorrow. In celebration, the Internet released a cavalcade of dongzillas upon the Sporepedia. Most of the submissions, however, look perfectly G-rated. And man, there’s a LOT of submissions.

- Meet the Sniper came out today, as promised. It’s better than one might have expected, given that the Sniper is one of the blandest characters in the actual game. Also, if you can identify the bobblehead at the beginning, you are no johnny-come-lately to Team Fortress.

- GameSetWatch has an interview up with Castlevania guy Koji Igarashi. (Well, technically it’s a reprint from sister site Gamasutra.) The interview is fairly light, but he does reaffirm that 2D games are awesome. And they are! Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, which Igarashi was assistant director of, is sometimes described as 2D’s last hurrah, but he’s still cranking them out on the DS.

- Kotaku makes fun of EA CEO John Riccitiello for complaining that reviewers don’t give his company’s games perfect scores based on hype. He’s got a point, that does happen sometimes. Just be patient and wait until Spore gets released, dude.
