I have been roped in by Peter Molyneux’s siren song again - I cannot wait for Fable 2. How could I - a hardcore gamer with an idealistic and slightly optimistic view of the world - not be sucked in by his lovely words? He’s going to give me a virtual world, with co-op and an obedient dog, and I only have to give him a small portion of my hard earned money? Sounds like a great idea! And if he happens to want a few more dollars for a Fable related side project, who I am to say no?

Fable 2 is the first Xbox 360 game to talk to an Xbox Live Arcade game. There are three (3!) XBLA games coming out this summer that link up to Fable 2. The premise is sketchy now, but basically, these will be puzzle-type games that let you earn real (virtual…) cash to use in Fable. It might sound kind of lame (most RPGs give you way more money than you could ever spend) but Fable 2 is different. Like real life, you have to earn your money. So you can either run errands or work as someone’s henchman in the real game, or spin the roulette wheel in the Arcade title. It’s your choice.

Here’s hoping Molyneux realizes his dream this time. I just hope he doesn’t kill off that lovable dog halfway through. I don’t think I could handle such a dark turn.
