Video Game Trivia: Son of News Potpourri
-Jeremy Parish of 1up.com (and of the late and lamented ToastyFrog) has an interview with gaming’s godfather, Shigeru Miyamoto. The article retreads the familiar Nintendo narrative that began with the DS and continues with Wii Fit: For gaming to survive, it needs to be made accessible to the non-hardcore. Also if you ever wanted a picture of Miyamoto doing yoga for your own mysterious purposes, now is your chance.
-Shows from the G4 network will soon be available on Xbox Live. Now you can get your awful, awful television for only a modest download fee.
-GameCareerGuide.com has posted the results from their contest to reinvigorate the WWII genre. All of the submissions are interesting, particularly the French saboteur one, but again, I think they need to go further. WWI is way too underrepresented in games. How about something where I die charging a machine gun emplacement in the first 45 seconds of gameplay or spend six months losing my feet to gangrene?
-Destructoid is running a contest to win a copy of Etrian Odyssey II, along with other goodies like an autographed soundtrack and a figurine. The person who writes the best anecdote about their experience with the original game wins. I’d enter, but “I got to the third level, decided the game hated me, and haven’t played it since,” probably isn’t winning material.
