Video Game Trivia: Sweet Rig on the County Dime?

How do you account for this pimped-out rig??I’m laughing like no tomorrow about this one, kids, because it’s just all kinds of funny. Even Penny Arcade agrees with me.

Basically, out in Rockwall County, in Texas, claims are being made that Rockwall County District Attorney Ray Sumrow put together his own personal server on the county dime and used it for, among other things, eBay auctions and computer games.

The computer in question, a sweet, clearly pimped-out rig, is described as being :”equipped with two hard drives, seven fans, high-end video and audio cards, a wireless Internet connection and cables that glow under ultraviolet light”.

Okay…the two hard drives are one thing—who hasn’t run up against their hard drive limits at one point or another? That and he was probably planning for the long haul, or for it to be a building- or system-wide backup Same with the wireless Internet connection—everybody, but EVERYBODY, needs the Internet these days.

But seven fans, suggesting a horrendous amount of processing power? Glowing cables? High-end video and audio cards? These all suggest some chicanery going on. Suggest only, of course—they could very well be as Sumrow suggests, parts bought on sale to save the county money.

But it’s clear that something dodgy is likely going on, and it’s still pretty funny, in its way. You too can join Sumrow—no cheat sheets required!—and play some Windows game trivia on Kwanzoo.
