Activision has announced that Guitar Hero 4 will have a drum kit and vocals, just like Rock Band.

In an article in Game Informer, Neversoft explains that they were totally going to put more instruments in all along, and come off as possibly a wee bit defensive.

“The natural evolution of the game is to add more instruments… It’s not like [Harmonix] even invented that. That’s been out there for years in the arcades.”

There’s scans of the Game Informer article floating around, which we aren’t going to link because we’re ethical and stuff. You won’t have any trouble finding them if you look, though, trust me.

One one hand, the Rock Band drum kit has room for improvement. The Guitar Hero controller has more cymbal-looking pads and is supposedly quieter, a major annoyance with the Rock Band equipment.

On the other hand, at least one of the people involved in this thought Aerosmith’s career would be a good basis for a game. It could go either way.
