W Casting–Somewhere George Bush Is Angrificationalized.
Sure sounds like a Bushism, doesn’t it? Well, it may not be a word, but Oliver Stone’s new movie, W, a scathing indictment of the material-laden Bush Administration is getting rolling and has, apparently been cast. Here’s the rundown, and what I think about it!
Josh Brolin as George W. Bush
A real so-so move here, frankly…Josh Brolin actually looks OLDER than Bush. A little projecting, maybe? But based on the pics, Brolin can definitely do George’s trademark “huh?” look.
Elizabeth Banks as Laura Bush
I’m wavering a little on this one…she’s within striking distance, but I can’t think of anything better, so I guess I have to go with it.
James Cromwell as George H.W. Bush
Oh wow. That’s a really close match. Plus I can actually buy Cromwell as an ex-President.
Ellen Burstyn as Barbara Bush
Nice. Seriously. Nice. That’s an excellent match.
Rob Corddry as Ari Fleischer
Oh. Oh yeah. Yeah. That is just perfect right there, seriously. A Daily Show alum playing Ari Fleischer is a stroke of ironic genius.
Jeffrey Wright as Colin Powell
Can’t say I like this one but I can’t think of any better, so, okay.
Thandie Newton as Condoleezza Rice
Was there no one better? Thandie Newton is too hot to play Gaptoothed Condy.
Ioan Gruffudd as Tony Blair
I don’t know where they got that picture of Tony Blair but he looks like he got whacked with a stupid stick several times in the face. So unless they’re planning to beat the hell out of Ioan Gruffudd before every scene, pass.
Scott Glenn as Donald Rumsfeld
Okay, that’s pretty close. I approve!
Toby Jones as Karl Rove
Yeah, sorry…not seeing it. Okay, yeah, Karl Rove looks doughy and misshapen but Toby Jones takes the ball, runs with it, leaves the stadium, goes down to the pier and hops a boat to the OTHER SIDE OF THE PLANET.
Noah Wyle as Donald Evans
Two words: Horrible. Mismatch. Noah Wyle’s resemblance to Donald Evans is minimal at best.
Richard Dreyfuss as Dick Cheney
Who better to imitate Cheney’s classic “sewn together from the bodies of the recently deceased” look than Mr. Holland himself, Richard Dreyfuss? Frankly, Dreyfuss is starting to look like twenty miles of bad road so he fits the bill perfectly!
And so, that’s how W is shaping up…not bad so far, I’d say, but the script is what’s really going to make this puppy shine. Until we get a good look, try the drama movie trivia on Kwanzoo for similar titles.
