Xbox Takes Nintendo–Big N’s Console Primacy Lost?
Okay, so by now, everybody is well aware of the enterprising soul out there took advantage of N+ (whose motto must be identical to that of Globo Gym from Dodgeball: “We’re Better Than You! And We Know It!”) and its level design feature to create actual replicas of The Legend of Zelda.
It’s amazing, make no mistake, and I can just hear the boys at Big N shrieking in rage that their console titles have basically been ganked out from under them and there’s really not much they can do about it.
Now, here’s a thought–what else would make a good game to tackle on the N+ format? Let’s try a few ideas, shall we?
Donkey Kong - There were only a couple stages to this sucker, and if you angle the walls right you should be able to get that original Donkey Kong flavor without much trouble.
Slalom - One of Big N’s first racing / sports games–if you line the levels in a top-down style, the experience should be pretty close.
Kid Icarus - Thanks to Pit’s recent comeback on Super Smash Brothers, there’s a brand-new interest in the little winged cherub. And since there were only a few levels to begin with, why not?
And that’s just a few off the top of my head. But, if you want to keep in touch with other Zelda fun, try the Link to the Past trivia on Kwanzoo.
