It will come as no surprise to know that there was a movie about the infamous and notorious Zodiac Killer, a lunatic who held an entire city in the grip of terror for decades. But what may surprise you is the sheer number of films that have been produced about the Zodiac—a lot.

They came close, if you believe one of the most recent titles, but still. For all we truly know, the Zodiac is still out there, awaiting his next batch of killings. That lack of resolution adds plenty of fuel to the already stoked furnace, and leaves a lot of room for interpretation. The Zodiac, an arcane killing engine that did horrible things to innocent people and mocked the police all the while, might well still be out there. Watching. And waiting….
