Zombwiis! The living dead come to Nintendo.

Few things in video games are more cathartic than fighting off hordes of the shambling undead who want nothing more than your tasty, tasty brains. Soon, Wii owners will get to partake of this simple joy.

Capcom announced that they’re bringing a remake of Dead Rising to the console with some significant changes. One of the changes is probably good, and one is probably bad.

The Xbox 360 version of Dead Rising often went like this:

Player: So many zombies and so many improvised weapons to use on them! I want to try them all!
Game: No time! You’ve got three minutes to make it to the other side of the mall for an escort quest!
Player: Arg.

The time management aspect made the game a little like being locked in a candy store while on an Atkins diet, but the Wii version will forgo the real time plot advancement. You take on sub-missions in succession before moving on to a main plot point.

However, one other thing that will be missing is the photo-taking feature. Your character in Dead Rising was a photojournalist and you were able to get new abilities by taking snapshots of the ghouls. It was a fun thing that set the game apart, but apparently it just wasn’t working for the Wii version.

If that doesn’t sound like your cup of putrefying tea, there’ll be another option for you. From the Simple 2000 series> comes Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers. Yeah, you read that right. It’s pretty much exactly what the name says.

If that sounds dumb to you, you’re not going to like this: There’s a live action movie adaptation coming.
