GLOSSARY -> Signal Based Selling

What is the difference between first-party and third-party intent data?

First-party intent data comes from your own properties. Third-party intent data comes from external websites outside your domain, showing buyers researching your category before they ever reach you.

The distinction matters because most buying intent is invisible to first-party data alone. 98% of B2B buyers research solutions extensively before contacting a vendor. The vast majority of that research happens on sites you do not own.

First-party intent signals: visited your pricing page, opened your email, watched your demo, downloaded your guide, attended your webinar, filled out a form.

Third-party (offsite) intent signals: researched 'B2B outbound automation' on an industry site, downloaded a competitor's whitepaper, compared pricing on G2, read an analyst report on intent data providers.

Most enterprise ABM platforms (Bombora, 6sense, Demandbase) aggregate third-party intent at the account level — they tell you which company is researching your category. Kwanzoo delivers person-level third-party intent — the specific individual researching your solutions, with full contact information and the topics and sites involved.

The most powerful signal is multiple types pointing to the same buyer at the same time: first-party website visit + third-party offsite research + social monitoring signal. Kwanzoo's Signals Hub unifies all five signal types into one buyer timeline, giving you the complete picture of every in-market buyer.
